Well that was quite an Opening Day - for Emilio Bonifacio. Bonifacio went 4-for-5 with four runs scored, three stolen bases, two RBIs and even an inside-the-park home run. Waiver wire's across the country were buzzing with everyone rushing to be the guy in their league to claim this year's darling of Opening Day. Time will tell if he will be this years Tuffy Rhodes or not.
- Ken Griffey, in his return to Seattle, hit a home run and tied Frank Robinson's mark of 8 Opening Day HR's.
- 2008 AL Cy Young winner Cliff Lee and the Cleveland offense had a day to forget against Texas.
- Adam Lind smacked a HR and nabbed 6 RBI's as the Blue Jays spanked Justin Verlander and the Tigers.
- Felipe Lopez and Tony Clark both homered from both sides of the plate in the Diamondbacks win. Both Arizona's Brandon Webb and Colorado's Aaron Cook were ineffective.
- CC Sabathia got roughed up yesterday and Mark Teixeira got a booed lustily as Baltimore beat up the Yanks.
- Jason Motte flopped in his first appearance as the Card's new closer.
- Joe Saunders had a great day and Brian Fuentes passed his first test of the season.
- Elvis Andrus looked sharp in his debut.
- The revamped Mets bullpen backed a dominant effort by Johan Santana.
- Hiroki Kuroda, the unlikely Opening Day stater, helped lead the Dodgers by the Padres and Jake Peavy.
